- The internet is a great source of information. Wikipedia is a good place to start.
- Lonely Planet or the Rough Guides are useful, but remember Asia is changing at a fast rate and information, especially prices, go out of date rapidly.
- If you are interested in the recent tragic history of the country there are several non fiction works by survivors of the Khmer Rouge these include: “First They Killed My Father” by Loung Ung and “When Broken Glass Floats” by Chanrithy Him. "The Gate" by Francois Bizot is a fascinating story about this Frenchman's escape from the Khmer Rouge. “When The War Was Over” by Elizabeth Becker, a journalist who spent time in Cambodia before the regime, is a longer and more detailed account of the history of the Khmer Rouge.
- Movies filmed in Cambodia or cinematic recreations of history include: History of Angkor Wat, City of Ghosts, Tomb Raiders, Two Brothers, The Killing Fields and S21.
